I’m new to site performance and I just completed 5 months of work and have a website the customer loves. But, something happened about a week ago — we don’t know what, and the ISP claims they didn’t do anything — to break the site as far a speed and performance.
The site is: [https://elijahlisttv.org/])
I’ve been scrambling to learn about performance today and yesterday. I know basics like use JPG, not PNG when possible, create re-usuable objects, avoid duplicating work, etc.
But, I’m wondering if some 10MB image I accidently uploaded last week could cause this issue?
# My Questions:
1. The images aren’t even on the homepage, so why would that affect anything?
2. None of the tools I’ve stumbled upon so far identify or have a section that indicates LARGE IMAGES or some similar category. So, how likely is it that 80MB of images that don’t even appear on the homepage would be the cause of sudden slow load on the homepage?
3. Are there any (free) tools that show “large images” to help diagnose the issue?
These are the tools I’ve used so far:
* Lighthouse in Chrome dev tools
* GTMetrix: [https://gtmetrix.com/reports/elijahlisttv.org/fws9f7hy/])
Thanks for any help

Advice: serve films, fonts etc localy, at your server
You’ve got a few areas that need work, but the main things id suggest are a better web host, using wp-rocket or flyingpress for cache and then compress images.
The waterfall chart on gtmetrix. It has a sortable table where you can sort by file size.
Here’s my thorough guide on performance optimization, it should be more than enough to get your site into the 90s on mobile:
