I’m a web/graphic designer used to building sites in SquareSpace and Wix. I’d like to change my career path and become a publisher and sell books or magazines. So at the beginning of April, I decided to move to WP because of WooCommerce and Blog/typography incredible capabilities that seem limited on the platforms I usually work on.
I bought an Artisan Theme, which is fantastic. But, I’m still amazingly stuck on the header. I joined the developers’ forum and they reply once a week. But, their solution is not working. I read articles about the problem I’m experiencing and watched videos. When I apply those solutions, I fix one thing and create another problem. I feel utterly hopeless because on SquareSpace I built sites all the time.
I joined other forums such as Stack Exchange or Stack WP Developer, but I still don’t get a reply.
My questions are:
1. How long does it take to feel a bit competent on WP having HTML/CSS background?
2. How long does it usually take to get a reply on WP forum?
3. How long would you give yourself to figure out if moving to a completely different platform is worth your time?
