How can I implement a multi step checkout with smart authentication

So I have a website and it’s a multi step check out and not eh first stage of the check out I want to do authentication.

If the user is new they can add their email and when they click on continue it expands to user name and password field but if they click on the continue as a guest checkbox it just takes them to the next stage and if they are already a user then can put in their email and the password input field expands.
