How Can I Keep Portfolio Entries from Appearing in Search Results

[ad_1]

SSIA. When searches on the site are performed I only want pages or blog post entries to appear in search results.

Some additional context. Site uses The7 theme with WPBakery Page Builder. Not sure the theme matters for this question. I use the Portfolio entries feature of the site for press articles our biz is mentioned in. They are similar to products in our case. I create a new entry, drop in a featured image, add the external link, and occasionally copy the entire contents of the article in the entry. (Specific content we write because it’s not uncommon for older articles on external sites to disappear sometimes and I like to have them for archival purposes.)

The advantage of this approach for me is that these entries are nothing more than a featured image w/ some meta-data, sans the exception above. I then use the carousel element to selectively choose which press entries I want to see on any given page the viewer is browsing. That way I don’t have to manually update all the pages for a particular article type (e.g. “Featured”, or “Podcast Interview” or “Healthcare”, etc). The featured image and portfolio project links are \*always\* to the external site hosting the press article. However, when searching the site I’m seeing the portfolio entries appear as stand-alone results you can click in to. The external links don’t trigger. Instead it takes you straight to the actual portfolio entry. How can I prevent this from happening?
