  1. The most logical answer is something is wrong with the GTMetrix estimation algorithm.

    The first image is 357kb. It’s 1536 by 1024 pixels. It’s a detailed photograph and not a simple infographic with lots of white space. And since it’s a photo it’s unlikely to have any background transparency. *And* it looks like the original image has already been converted to webp.

    And they’re saying you could potentially save another 349k with a different compression algorithm? Unless I need more coffee or stronger glasses that would leave you with an 8k image. And that seems… unlikely.

  2. Im not sure what page on your domain you were testning, but is it the front page then its the dimensions of the images that is wrong.

  3. Basically this means that your theme is showing large images where they should be small. This is handled through a combination of specifying image sizes in the theme setup, and ensuring the template is using the correct size of image for its purpose.
