How can I selectively translate navigation submenu items?

I use GTranslate with the default Twenty Twenty-Four theme. For some blocks I don’t want a translation: I then use the additional CSS class “notranslate” in these blocks.

A problem arises if I want a submenu block not to be translated, but (some of) the submenu items (page links) to be translated: if I use the additional CSS class “notranslate” in the submenu block, none of the submenu items are translated.
