So I use WordPress to uploud translations of a certain web novel and some chapters are really long. I noticed that the ads are rather intrusive and wondered if it’s possible for me to block them for my users. Is that possible?

I assume you are using [Wordpress.com](http://Wordpress.com) hosting rather than self hosted [wordpress.org](http://wordpress.org) as a self hosted site would not be presenting ads unless you specifically added a plug to enable them.
If you are on [wordpress.com](http://wordpress.com) I suspect you won’t be able to disable them as they will likely be built into the [wordpress.com](http://wordpress.com) provided themes.
Pretty sure that this is a violation of their TOS. That’s how they pay for your hosting.
If you’re using [WordPress.com](http://WordPress.com), I assume you may have WordAds enabled if you’re on a paid plan. If you don’t want to show ads, you can turn WordAds off. If you’re on a free plan, the ads won’t show if any paid plan is added.
You can self-host a free website on GitHub or Cloudflare. It will require some technical know-how or someone with technical know-how, but it’s a do it once and reap the benefits forever.
I have seen a bunch of TLs on NovelUpdates who use this method for self-hosting. There’s also a forum post where someone made a simple tutorial to do it with a premade template that works for novels.
You can look into that.
