How do I keep my Paypal safe while having a freelancer work on my WP site which includes my PP information?

[ad_1]

So I have a WordPress site that is attached to my Paypal account since I am selling digital downloads. I want to hire someone to fix it all up for me, but how do I keep them from getting into my Paypal and sending out money etc since my details are already on the site, and that’s part of what I am having trouble with so I want them to have access to it. What’s the normal protocol?

  1. The PP plugin doesn’t store your login info, so a contractor isn’t able to get into your PP account.

  2. You’re fine, i could go into how these plugins communicate with paypal but it may sound like a bunch of nonsense. Bottom line tho it doesn’t use your username/password after the first time you “hook up” paypal, it doesn’t store it anywhere. Paypal wouldn’t be where it is now if every plugin could compromise the users account like that.

  3. While any responsible dev or agency is not typically a concern, it can be tough when you don’t have an established relationship with a developer.

If you hire someone to troubleshoot PP integration, it often is faster for the dev to have access directly to PP – but that isn’t the only way to have your PP connection fixed if it’s been broken. Reputable devs can send you trouble shooting steps to take on your own, or schedule a screen share and walk you through what to click etc.

At the end of the day, find a dev you can trust, and maintain that relationship. Will save you loads of anxiety and probably headaches too.
