How do I maintain an image aspect ratio for an image at the top of a page?

I’m losing my mind. This is probably really easy and I’m making it difficult. I’m new at this.

I’m trying to create a site where every page has an image at the top, full width (the image can change, but there’s always an image). How do I get the image to maintain the same aspect ratio, no matter how big or small the page is? Currently on my page, if you adjust the browser window and make the desktop view bigger or smaller, it cuts off the image or expands into more of the image, when I just want it to hold the SAME. I’ve tried everything I can think of and spent hours on this. Am I using the wrong page element? I’ve tried image and header. I’m using WordPress with Blocksy. The top image on this site is what I’m going for: [https://moneyfitnessjourney.com/blog/](https://moneyfitnessjourney.com/blog/)
