How do you set up the “reply-to” field in forms?

[ad_1]

When one sets up a WP form, what is the best practice with regard to the “reply-to” field? I used to put the email of the person (who filled the form) into the “reply-to” field, so that whoever handles the contact form inquiries can directly respond to the inquirer. But somewhere along the way I read that wasn’t the best practice with email delivery. Appreciate some expert insights.

  1. That is the correct method. The incorrect method would be setting the FROM as the submitter’s address.

  2. For transactional mail from a form to your users this is totally fine in almost all cases.

The most important thing is DKIM, SPF, and DMARC setup on the address you’re sending from.

For marketing email or some edge case servers possibly some issues. However if your clients are receiving the form submissions, then that is what matters. FWIW we do this with most of our forms.

  3. Hi, if is contact form 7 just put on tab “Mail” -> “Additional headers” -> Reply-To: <[email protected]>

    or

    Reply-To: [ccorreo]

when [ccorreo] is a field on contact form 7
