Hi there, I am starting new with WordPress free lancing. I have a good experience with WordPress and I have setup three four sites for my friends and family members but never charged them as I had no intention to do so from start.
But on their recommendation some other people are seeking my assistance for their personal projects and asked me for a quote.
Can you share what’s the market rate for a site built with WordPress? I dont want to sound cocky by asking more than the standard price but at same time I also don’t want to be underpaid
I appreciate your help, thank you!

I don’t know if such a thing exists. There are so many levels of freelancers, and of clients. The right price is the one both you and your client are happy with.
As a beginner, you are not capable of producing the kind of websites that other people who have been doing this for years can produce, and you shouldn’t be charging the same prices as them.
But then most people don’t need a kick-ass site with all the bells and whistles. A lot of people are just looking for a cheap price.
You need to decide which kind of client you are trying to find. Who is your target market? What do they need from a site? Do you have the skills to provide that?
You should start basic and fairly cheap. If and when you start getting busy raise your prices a bit. When you start offering more than a basic website with a contact form, raise your prices.
Rinse and repeat. Keep working on your craft, and slowly adding more to your offerings and raising your rates accordingly.
As your prices increase don’t worry if some people can’t afford you. As long as you are still getting enough work at that price. If things are tough in your country at the moment and you’re not getting in enough work, offer a special price or consider reducing your rates a bit and see if that improves your win rate. Let the market decide what the right price is.
Where do you live? And your potential clients?
It’s pretty easy: charge double (average) month wage in your country/state for a site you can build in two weeks. More or less, that’s it.
I honestly started low, like 50$ low then slowly increased the price to the point I felt it was worth it for both me and the customer.
I don’t take into account where I’m from or where the client is from, work is work and the quality speaks for itself. I don’t agree that someone should be paid less or more than what his work is worth based strictly on the geographic location.
The market rate is:
where you live * how good you actually are… not how good you think you are * hours it’ll take you to do.
