How to add custom CSS when WordPress says “edit site” on the top bar?

When looking at some themes or starter sites, I notice that some say “edit site” on the top bar and don’t have a “customize” option. How do I add custom CSS?

  1. “Customize” is located within the “Appearance” menu on the backend of your site.

  2. You can add custom CSS with a plugin. For example, the “Simple Custom CSS” plugin . There are many such plugins in the WordPress repository. It is very easy to use

  3. Sounds like you’re using the 2023 theme. It works a lot differently to any other theme. I’d recommend installing a theme like Astra if you’re watching YouTube tutorials.
