How to build a WordPress website without a page builder?

[ad_1]

More specifically how do agencies develop WordPress without a builder?, I am a self taught WordPress lover that has currently built 10 or so WordPress Websites with Elementor page builder and pods for custom posts and settings, plus a mired of other plugins. Page builders are great but I can’t help but feel there must be a more native way of building WordPress. Problem with Elementor is it adds a lot of extra divs and is resource intensive. Because I have self taught my way through, I haven’t gained any experience from working with agencies, I don’t know what is professionally acceptable for a WordPress site. I look online for help but it’s a nightmare, just constantly trying to sell page builders or other plugins. What tools or setup do you do use ? I feel/ I know I am inadequate with custom WordPress development such as themes etc, but I want to change this so I can push on and start building a better business. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  1. Gutenberg is the native page builder and it can be extended with third-party blocks via plugins. I try as much as possible to use Gutenberg now, and it has been working out great for me.
