How to bypass image reprocessing in the media library?

[ad_1]

I’m looking for a simple way to prevent WordPress / ImageMagick from reprocessing some images I upload. I’ve seen guidance for hacks to do this, but looking for something more robust (ie plugin or service) which would enable using the media library to insert images – but without altering the images in any way from what I upload. Also looking to only do this for some images, not all.

I need this to share some HDR JPG gain map images. The media library reprocesses these images and mangles them (they turn into standard SDR JPGs and no longer support HDR). I’ve been doing this manually outside the image library, but would really like to use the library for things like image galleries.
