how to clone a multisite WordPress site?

Hi,

I have a subdomain (that is a staging site) that is setup as a multisite. I asked the host to clone it to a different subdomain. the clone is having all sorts of errors and I cannot log in.

are there steps that need to be taken when cloning a multisite enabled WordPress site?

TLDR: staging subdomain was cloned by host but new clone has error and I cannot log in.

any idea where to start? I think the errors are caused by the multisite and clone since those errors do not appear in the source.
