How to get clients after doing free projects?

[ad_1]

React dev here, learned wordpress to get things going, I did a total of 5 free projects. Now I have to charge, I can't do it for free anymore. The people who did work with me liked what they recieved

But yeah how much to charge for? For example I made this graphic designer a portfolio https://zalak-shah.great-site.net/

She was super happy about it

PS: I just noticed that the videos at the end of the portfolio are too large so take a long time to load how do I fix that?

  1. Dope stuff

You can start by first targeting graphic designers
Search for them on google business or social media. You can tell them you will setup a similar portfolio for them for a cheaper price but if they want a new/custom design they will pay extra.

I think people would jump on that

  2. Personally, I would approach it as follows: you create three packages (e.g. bronze, silver, gold) and define in advance which service is included in each package. (Number of pages, maintenance, special elements such as community or shop, pre-made design/theme or a custom design, etc.)

Then contact the customers as before, but show them directly the three packages they can choose from. Either show the packages on your website or in a short form with e.g. typeform. If the customer has special requirements, I would recommend that you make a large price list with everything you could offer: hosting, backups, maintenance, subsequent changes, etc. Put everything you can offer in there so that no questions arise. You don’t have to do this on a website, but you can send it as a PDF document, for example.

It’s better to define and organize everything beforehand. The same goes for contracts. Maybe you want a 20% down payment at the beginning. How do you deal with cancellations? When do you transfer the website to the customer’s server? (I would recommend after payment has been received). How long does the customer have to pay, what about admin access, etc.

all the planning will save the headaches afterwards and above all one thing: unpaid working hours
