I am with wordpress.com and I’m pretty satisfied with it but one thing I don’t like this every year they ask me to renew, and I can only renew for a year, but I’m talking about the domain name. So it’s $48 a year for the plan but $19 a year for the hosting but the hosting the name of the website is more important to me than plan. The reason I think I should’ve gone with a free blog I’m worried that my blog is gonna end up deleted if something should happen to me. I mean sure I could put it on an auto credit card but I suppose that Card could end up being canceled eventually. So if something were to happen to me and henceforth my cards were canceled and henceforth nothing renewed what happens to my website. Do they just take it off line completely or do they put it online with ads? Actually, I started with WordPress free and it seems like that was a better deal but now they don’t have that anymore but if you had adopted in early to WordPress for free, I assume that a blog could actually stay online for years without payment or effort. I did blog with Google at one time, but I found that google wasn’t indexing my post even though it was a Google blog, I would keep searching using keywords that I imagine that people would look up, but my blog would never come up, although other peoples blogs word that were more connected. I guess they had more comments more recognition, and more of that special something that I don’t have. But I’m discouraged because as of late, I don’t get any blog comments and I don’t feel like I have any traffic. With all the work I put into it maybe it’s time to stop writing new posts and just put everything in some sort of archive state in case somebody wants to read it. But I don’t know how to figure this out, and naturally, the WordPress happiness engineers have remained completely mute about what I could do to make my blog stay online without being canceled due to lack of payment. I am going to keep paying for it but I just want to know why I can’t have longer terms like why couldn’t I pay for 10 years for example and then have 10 years of my blog safe and securely online?

You can downgrade to the free plan: The free one stays online “forever.” Only thing with that is you can’t keep a custom domain. WordPress.com doesn’t offer the ability to renew multiple years at once on their paid plans.
If you want to keep the domain then move to a new host and transfer the domain as well. Pay the new host for years in advance if you want. I know my host can do 10 years in advance so it’s definitely possible to do.
