How to move all the template pages into a “templates” folder?

Hi,
when you create a new theme for WordPress, you have to create some page templates such as single, home, page and so on.
WordPress looks for these pages in the root folder of the theme.
However, I can see that a theme like “twentytwentythree” has a folder called templates that contains these files.

How is it possible?
I can’t find where the theme says to WordPress to look for these files in the “templates” folder.
