I am a 35 year old top rated plus WordPress freelancer on upwork with earnings around $100k on the platform.
(Not here to self promote)
I currently earn enough to only accept projects that I truly enjoy, which has given me more free time in my schedule. It feels like I’m semi-retired, and I’ve decided to embrace the challenge of teaching and sharing the knowledge I’ve gained from ten years of hustling with WordPress and WooCommerce.
I understand how difficult it can be in my field to provide clear pricing or even a structured project plan to ensure a delivery that satisfies both the client and you as a service provider.
I am planning to create a free course on this topic on Udemy (Again, I’m not here to promote but to brainstorm).
From my perspective, this course could benefit freelancers who are just starting out or those who do not have a proper process for pricing. It would also help customers who want to understand pricing in a transparent way.
I am very confident about the value I can share about freelancing! However, I am less certain about the interest in the topic and the WordPress / woocommerce niche in general.
Before I commit to this new challenge, I would love to get some feedback. If anyone in this subreddit has insights to share, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks 🙏

Reading into this and thinking of my own practices, I’ve realized how complicated the pricing is, so this course would be very welcome.
Definitely would be valuable info.
I just started my freelance wp journey, my first project I am charging as a project on completion because I wasn’t sure if I would be able to provide the expected output (about halfway through now things are looking fine, but I am new and nervous), even though client offered to pay me for my time per-hour. I am also looking at this as a resume padder as I am trying to make a career shift into more development-type work, and this project definitely showcases my abilities.
Something I’ve learned from working in IT is about setting a strict scope for a project early on and sticking to it. Also, communicating to the customer clear and quantifiable SLA’s: you will pay me this much and I will provide your website with this and this features by this specified date range. etc.
Would love for you to share your expertise so generously. Thank you for your consideration!
