How to safely export and import pages when a site is infected with malware?

[ad_1]

Dear WordPressers,

after discussing with my client we have decided to fully redo their website on a new webspace because we can’t get rid of the malware infection it currently has.

I’ve created about 10 pages with Elementor Pro on their current site. My plan is to export the pages as templates from the existing, malware infected site (which is sort of cleaned by Wordfence) and import the templates to a fresh webspace and fresh WordPress installation. Is there a chance I import the malware with the templates? Or do I HAVE TO rebuild every single element on every single page to be sure there’s no more malware anywhere?

For background info, the site was already infected when I first started to work on it, hence it’s not actually my fault the infection happened in the first place. We only found out later that there was malware on the page already. I Immediatly update plugins, themes and WP itself when there are new versions (after testing them).

I’m thankful for any help.

  1. It really depends on the type of malware you have. Most common is XSS in wordpress and its abit of pain to remove but it’s simple enough once you’ve got your head around the problem.

If your able to provide me the URL of the site , I can look into whats going on.
