How to setup categories to create multiple blogs on 1 WordPress website?

[ad_1]

Hi! I am trying to create a personal website, but the thing is, I have a need for 3 tabs to showcase 3 different portfolios. To save the headache (and money) of managing 3 different blog sites that share 1 "parent" website, I saw categories are a handy alternative. However, unfortunately, all of the tutorials feature a "menu" editor under Appearance which I do not have access to (and cannot find how to access).

My problem is that when I link a category on my navigation menu, it just leads to a page that says "no search results". And category pages aren't a thing. And because I lack the "menu" editor under appearance, I don't have any option allowing me to add dropdown options for the category. Also, because I am seeking to host portfolios, I think that would be too many dropdown options.

So I just want help if there is a way to efficiently use categories, or to access this mystical ancient "menu" option under appearance, or if I should just get one of the higher end premium options and manage 3 websites under 1, somehow?

My head hurts from the amount of research I have had to do only to find nothing, and I am sorry if this has already been posted or sounds like a silly problem. I just can't understand how to properly edit my categories so they work, and I really don't want to have to host 4 websites and alter between editors, because already I am having to use a seperate browser whose cache I can clear so WordPress works properly, so using a seperate browser plus several website editors sounds like hell. Maybe Wix or SquareSpace are better for what I am trying to achieve? I don't know. Thanks if anyone can help.

  1. Have you posted posts in the categories?

One thing I have done is create a page for each category with a query loop tied to the selected posts. Add the page to your menu.

    Will that work?

Or are you saying that you don’t have access to appearance -> menu in one of the block themes? I’m not an expert on those, but I think you create a menu block in your header and add the page to that block.

    Good luck!
