How to sync database of staging to production of an E-commerce site?

[ad_1]

We currently have a e-commerce site built using oxygen builder and woocommerce. All development are happening in the staging site. We will push our mvp to production site next week. I’m trying to figure out how can I sync the database once we push the version 2 from the staging to production knowing that people might already be accessing and ordering in the site. Knowing how oxygen builder work, all templates and stylesheet are save in the database. Do we use wp staging or vaultpress for this kind of concern? Sadly we are hosted at godaddy. Im actually suggesting the client to host in cloudways digital ocean but sadly my boss doesnt want to. They might prefer aws lightsails. Your thoughts are highly appreciated.

  1. Database merging in WP is a nightmare. A manual solution will probably would be the only thing. Most(if not all) WP migration plugins override the DB with the data from the source.

My suggestion, once you are ready to move phase 2 into production. Skip all the Woo-commerce tables from the staging database and only move all the other tables manually. If during phase 2 you change any Woo-commerce settings, keep track of those so you can do them manually as well.

    Good luck!
