I’m a complete beginner to wordpress. I am generally okay at IT stuff but I’ve never dealt with websites until now.
Basically, everything seems incredibly counter-intuitive and I have no idea how to navigate anything. WordPress itself has like 4 different ways to start putting things together, plus loads of guides recommend using Elementor (which I find awful to try and work out btw).
It seems if you use a different theme (and therefore plugins) you can’t do certain (seemingly rudimentary) things that previous themes did.
It feels as though without being able to write in html there will always be colours, spaces, random things, etc. somewhere in your site because wordpress, elemtor or whatever just doesn’t give you full access to change some things.
I’ve mostly used the appearance > customise function to build my site. It seems the most functional and straightforward. But whenever I look up guides (from wordpress themselves, even) it takes about features that are only aren’t there, such as the block setting you can find within the widgets page.
I really don’t understand how or why to bother to use the widgets page, among others, when it literally has none of my websites features on it. Is it intended for something separate or am I completely missing something?
None of it makes any sense to me. Any help is appreciated.
