I can’t seem to find anyone who knows how to work wordpress the way my original developer made it.
Should I just hire someone to re-do my website? Th er y all want to host it and have me pay them monthly. Where can I find someone who knows how to fix things? I am not able to get messages from my “contact me” page to my email.
First, try disabling that plugin to see if your host will send PHP emails.
Is that the free version? Gmail is very confusing to set up with this as you need oauth credentials.
What id recommended is setting up a free outlook.com email and enable SMTP. Use this inbox only for sending mail to your actual email

First, take a look at the spam folder. Sometimes form emails go there.
Check which contact form plugin your website is using, such as Contact Form 7. Check if the receiving email in the plugin settings is correct.
Try installing an SMTP plugin like WP Mail SMTP. Sometimes it can solve the problem of not being able to send emails.
If you can log in to the backend and install the WP Mail Logging plugin to see if the email has been sent.
Ask your hosting company if they have any restrictions on PHP email sending.
