I have a WordPress backup but no longer own the domain, is my backup useless?

[ad_1]

A while ago I set up my own WordPress website and spent weeks typing articles, etc. I then downloaded a backup using the ‘Backuply’ plugin. It went well but I only got 3,000 visits in the first month so out of frustration I deleted the site, domain and hosting. Since then the host has decided it’s a ‘premium’ domain and wants over $1,400 to register it so I can’t simply register it again and upload my backup files.

Last week I bought a different domain, set-up WordPress and added the Backuply plugin, I then went through all of the files I have in my backup and changed any reference to the old domain name for the new. I Uploaded it but Backuply got stuck on 69%, a bit of Googling and it seems I might have missed one of the old url’s in the database or something.

I also tried just uploading my files and adding my database’s contents to the database on the new domain, that didn’t work either.

I’ve looked around and done all of the usual things people say online to no avail. It looks like the ‘easy’ way is to upload it and do loads of redirects but I don’t own the original domain and even if I did I wouldn’t want the punishment for SEO or load speed.

Should I just delete my backup and save myself the stress?
