I Meddled and Ruined Everything

[ad_1]

TL;DR
I edited some text in a text box and broke the layout of the page. Now there’s a weird column on the right that I don’t know how to get rid of.

My startup contracted a designer to build our landing page for our site on WordPress. I’ve never used it before and have very little knowledge about how it works. When going to check on my designers progress, I noticed he gave my CTO the title of Vice President and went to change it. After updating the text, the whole layout broke and added a column with a search bar, and divs titled “Recent Posts”, “Categories”, and “Meta”. My designer doesn’t know what happened neither does my CTO.

  1. Never go into a page someone hasn’t delivered yet and mess with it. Especially if you’ve never used WP before. The designer was hired and should be trusted, maybe Vice President was a placeholder title and just there for the time being, who knows, and why even touch it if you don’t know how to use it?

It sounds like a sidebar section was added. Look for sidebar settings in the page settings and put it back to no sidebar.

  2. Man, I’ve been there before. Sorry you’re having to deal with that kinda thing when you’re unfamiliar with the tech.

Shouldn’t be too difficult to diagnose after getting a look at the setup, though. I’m available to help if you want. Been building custom WP sites for years in agencies.
