I need help understanding responsive web design and breakpoints

[ad_1]

I started experimenting with web development just a few months ago and I recently finished my first website (one that I created for a family member).

I have done so by using a classic WordPress + Elementor (free version) combo. I am willing to learn HTML and CSS, but I needed to add something to my portfolio asap so I went for the basic stuff first.

Now I have this decently cool looking website on my hands, that I designed with my personal laptop which is 15.6″ (39,6 cm). But predictably it looks different on different screens, with gaps of void spaces that aren’t supposed to be there, squashed together text, etcetera.

So what is the process to fix this going forward? Do I have to manually do it for all types of devices, by adding most possible screen sizes available today? Are these listed somewhere? Is there a best practice for this process?
