I wasted 6 months developing my WordPress website; and failed to understand the features; now thinking of shifting to making a custom-custom website

I wasted 6 months of my time. WordPress is so complicated.
I wanted to create an agency website for my upcoming agency and include blog options. I have to do email marketing, make lead magnets, etc., and since it’s quite complicated, I can’t understand plugins.
It’s so hard to understand and I get so frustrated. I have wasted enough time and then the website seemed slow, so everyone recommended I go for a custom-coded site.

I wanted to go for webflow etc but I’m looking for free options only.

  1. If you’re doing an agency website you’ll have to pay for some kind of plugin or subscription. If not you’re stuck with WordPress or whatever your host
    Provides.

  2. There’s a ton of things to learn when you’re building a website. Hosting, domains, DNS/nameservers, web panels, email… And that’s even before you start building the actual website. That’s why there are services like Wix and Squarespace, where you pay for the simplification of it all.

What exactly are you trying to get done with your website/trying to make it do for you?

If all you want is a website with blog options, Wix and Squarespace have you covered. No, they’re not free. But they’ll handle everything for you.

  3. If WordPress is too complicated, I fear that custom coding will be overwhelming. WordPress was created to make things less complicated.

  4. WordPress provides an easy way to update and manage content. A bad theme and reliance on plugins is not the way. A custom developed theme is the way.

  5. Wait. You want to make an agency website and want it all free? And you believe custom-code website in your opinion is easier than wordpress? Is that what they told you?

You already failing the ABC & 101 to start a business. Cheap out on everything and then complain why your business failed. Its not bootstrapping when you cheap out and complain for stuff you failed to learn.

My advice, get an expert who can work on wordpress or websites and let them do it for you. And please pay well.

  6. If you had worked 1/2 year in another job, you had 10000k to build your website by now.
