Ideal number of plugins

[ad_1]

Hi everyone! I'm pretty sure, there would not be a straightforward answer to the question as it might depend upon the needs. But, whenever I am trying to add a new feature and search it up on youtube, tutorials seems to be adding new plugins everytime. I have noticed in the community that people mentioned, adding lots of plugins might be security risk . So, is there a ideal number of plugins I should use? Plugins that I should stay away from. Thanks in advance!

  1. There’s no ideal number, but try to use only the plugins you really need. Choose high-quality, well-maintained plugins, and avoid using too many to keep your site secure and fast. Regularly update your plugins and remove any that aren’t necessary.

  2. Some plugins are literally just a few 100 lines of code, so it depends. It helps if you do your own snippets or plugins. If you’re looking for a specific function and for that reason you install a plugin with 500 functions, then yes. More bloat and more security risks.

My average site has about 10 plugins. Builder, smtp, seo, builder addon, captcha, cache, acf and my a couple of my own plugins that could easily be just a bunch of code in functions.php. if it’s a web store, add 5 more. Two are my own + woo, abandoned cart and myb something else.

  3. Most of tutorials are made from people who don’t know coding.
Using more than 10 plugins it’s not recommended.
If you don’t want to use a lot of plugins, you need to learn PHP.
