I’m confused why WordPress doesn’t have a a part where you can edit the homepage

Like, if I wanted to edit an element on website.com/contact or website.com/blog – the editor has those pages listed, but not one for simply website.com
It does if you set a “homepage” in settings > reading
Create a page called Home.
Go to Settings > Reading
Set that page as the home page and edit away!
