Import products (WP All Import) in WooCommerce: custom field not attached to product variations

For my products, I have 2 variations. With each variation, I need custom fields set. But WP All Import seems to attach the first custom field to the main product and the second one to the second variation. So one variation (the default one) does not have the custom field. I’m not sure why this is happening and how to fix it on import.
