Hi, just want to know how you can fix this error. I am with Bluehost and customer service told me they will replace the .htaccess file (with core files )and run a malware scan (which can take 3-4 hours).
They also said the problem is with WordPress. Could anyone tell me how this happened and if it will occur in the future?

Error 500 covers every error that might happen on server. You need to find which error is actually happening from the error log on the server. There is no way to know what the problem is or help without knowing the actual error.
