Is it possible to set backend and front end as different default language?

[ad_1]

I prefer reading English while working on my site, but the front end is supposed to fully display in Chinese.

Is it possible to keep WP frontend and backend as different default languages?

  1. Yes, it is possible to set the backend (admin dashboard) and front end of a WordPress website to different default languages. This can be achieved by using language localization plugins or by manually adjusting the settings in WordPress.

Using Language Localization Plugins: There are several plugins available in the WordPress plugin repository that allow you to set different languages for the backend and frontend. For example, “Polylang” and “WPML” are popular plugins that offer this functionality.

Manually Adjusting Settings: In WordPress, you can manually adjust the language settings for the backend and frontend. You can set the backend language in the user profile settings of each user account. For the frontend, you can use translation files or plugins to display content in the desired language.

By utilizing these methods, you can ensure that you can work in English in the backend while having your website fully displayed in Chinese on the frontend.

  2. Yes you can by going to WP dashboard -> Users -> All Users -> find your username and click Edit -> in “Personal Options” section, change the language to whatever language you want. This way, your backend language can be different than your frontend language.

This setting will not change the site language you set in General Settings.

Edit: I use Elementor and even though I already set the backend language to English, some of their menus and settings are still using the frontend language (French). your mileage may vary.

  3. Yes, it is controllable by user. In the admin, go to users->my profile and. then select whatever language you want.
