e.g. I know the emails end up in mail-pit in Local, so the functionality of the form itself is working properly.
Now I just want to test SMTP by sending the email to my actual email address. Possible to do using the Local app? Is it just the same process as if the WordPress install were online?
Also, is there a “most basic” SMTP plugin to use, preferably free up to a certain amount of emails. Post SMTP? Brevo? I must admit, I did find Brevo a bit confusing, but I’m not used to using SMTP apps yet.

Yes, it is possible to test SMTP functionality using Local. To do this, you need to configure your WordPress site to use an SMTP plugin and set it up with your actual email service’s SMTP settings. This process is similar to how you would configure an online WordPress site.
For a basic SMTP plugin, consider using “fluentP” …. but for local computer you must have public domain, with ns mx settings name server, also you must have public ports and ip (contact your internet provider)
