Hi everyone,
I've been working on a website project and considering whether to include a preloader (the loading animation or screen that appears while content is loading). I've noticed that many big companies and modern websites don't use preloaders anymore, opting for smooth, instant loading experiences instead.
So, I’m curious: Is it still beneficial to use a preloader? Do they improve user experience, or could they be seen as outdated or unnecessary? I'm interested in hearing your thoughts and experiences with preloaders.
Thanks in advance!
Note: My website is bit slow. 😊
IMO there’s nothing wrong with preloaders from an SEO/UI standpoint, but I think they’re often used to mask a site’s poor loading speed. They also don’t add much to the user experience, so it’s probably better to focus on improving site speed and caching.
It’s a no no..unless you are selling something that user really want they don’t mind looking at a loading screen every time they goto a new page.
Why is your site slow?
Avoid preloading the page. Let eveything load normally and use skeletons for sections of heavier content that takes a bit longer. Don’t make the user wait longer than their connection allows for the entire page.
No. And it hasn’t been for a long time – since CWV was introduced, as they negatively affect CLS and LCP.
If your website loads fast enough, there is no need.
Whats the point of a pre loader when a website can load with a second?
