Since there are already many WordPress-related services, **niching** is probably the first thing people would advice when starting a WordPress dev shop.
If you were to start your agency from scratch now, how would you go about niching? I think one could start from deciding on one of these big three categories and narrowing down. Which one of these approaches would you recommend?
For example:
1. **Niche by the client industry**: for dentists, lawyers, accountants, musician, etc.
2. **Niche by the main website function:** specialize in LMS (learning management system), consultation scheduling, funnel design, events, etc.
3. **Niche by language/country:** Find what works in the English-speaking market and apply that in other language markets. Offer support and tutorials for plugins or themes where the local language is not yet available.
For context: I’m a one-person business, comfortable with HTML/CSS/JS and can Google around to hack my way with PHP. Speaks 2 other languages in addition to English. Aiming to build a lifestyle business up to $100K/year as my first milestone, and then outsource and build an agency as necessary if the business seems promising.
Your input and advice are greatly appreciated!
