Is Oxygen builder a good choice for a small portfolio site + shop?

[ad_1]

First things first, I’m not a WP developer. I do know html, css, js, but not php. I’ve been working on WordPress for 8 years with page builders such as Thrive Architect, Elementor, Beaver Builder, WP Bakery, a bit with divi, and a lot of other plugins… anything that my clients needed throughout the years, I’d be learning how it worked and do whatever had to be done. So I have no problem with learning and exploration.

All this time I’ve been working on already set up sites, sites were already built and all plugins were already chosen by other people, and I never had to think or care about which tools to use. Anyway, now a friend asked me if I can build a portfolio website to market his services plus he wants to sell some pdf materials.

So, now I need to choose the tools for the job. I want to be able to build and design everything myself instead of working with themes. I found that oxygen is kind of a page/theme builder, saw some videos how it works, I’m confident I can work with it. I like that it’s a one-time purchase. I know that elementor also has a theme builder, but it’s been criticized for bloat, while Oxygen is supposedly better?

I have worked with thrive theme builder too, but I don’t really like Thrive and I’d like to learn something new. And isn’t it a bit ancient already?

Also, for the pdf materials I’ve been exploring the free version of woocommerce and it looks like it’s gonna do fine. I see that Oxygen offers a package with Woocommerce integration, do I really need that? How does that work?

This post is a bit messy, so is my thought process at the moment. I appreciate your suggestions.
