Is there any tool or plug-in that adds an interface on top of Gutenberg to make it less hideous, spiteful, horribly inefficient, evil, ugly, difficult, hateful, hostile? When you need to bang out a bunch of quick post Gutenberg is a living hell.

It seems to me there's 1000 ways it could be easier and better. I could go with having the blocks be pastel background with little pop downs at provide info about them and grab bars to prove them around things like that –

I have been using divi which… It's not a choice I would make again except for temporary landing pages which it's perfect for.

of course I'm locked into WordPress for life

  1. Cwicly was built on top of Gutenberg and its developers tried to offer a different experience and a more holistic approach. There was some drama around Cwicly earlier this year, but I think the builder as such was/is very promising and the lead developer is obviously very talented and has a vision. They released it now for free and it is supposed to come to the WP repository. But I don’t know what their future plans are.

If you don’t really need Gutenberg, you can also try Bricks + ACF Flexible Content. Such a workflow has a learning curve, but I like it.

  2. Classic editor for quick posts, 100%. Or duplicate a post and just change the text? I think most page builders are generally more complex than Gutenberg.
