Is there anyway to use WordPress Admin Dashboard Design System?

[ad_1]

Hello, I’m trying to build custom fields with WordPress Admin style itself (ACF, Pods or CFS ain’t always meet my requirement). I tried to look in the CSS source code but it is hard to understand which is which and how should I use it. Just look at CSS really didn’t help me understand its HTML. But I saw ACF & Pods did really well in matching their CF to WordPress theme. I wonder if they have a library for Admin Dashboard theme. Do you guy know if such a convenience library like that exist? Or document about WordPress Admin Design System is also good as well.

Thanks in advance.

  1. Not sure I understand what you want, but it sounds like you want to build your own admin pages in the same style as WordPress uses. If that’s the case then I used [https://github.com/bueltge/wordpress-admin-style]) a couple of years ago, and it showed a load of admin components, and the HTML used to build them with the classes WordPress uses for it’s pages, so my admin pages look exactly the same as the WordPress core ones.

  2. In my experience the admin panel does not have a very well-documented design system. I’d hardly even call the existing styles a design system.

The block editor is doing a better job with the component library that’s useable by anyone interested in building admin screens using react (see @wordpress/components or other packages in the Gutenberg monorepo).

I usually look at classes on various WP core elements and follow their patterns when i want to make screens match WP.

I don’t think I’m being tremendously helpful but it’s not easy or simple. Sorry.
