Is this a basic wordpress capability? Or what would I search for in plugins?

A friend of mine wants to build a site functionally similar to this:

Basically, a site with a tagged and dated catalog of pages with video, media, files, and a summary for each page/lecture/podcast/whatever.

Is WordPress capable of that right out of the box? What kind of plugin(s) would I search for to find some stuff to recommend?
