Is wordpress.org the right option for me?

[ad_1]

I’d like to make a website for a local event that I host. I just need something super simple so I can showcase what the event is about, some basic info, maybe an FAQ and a ‘get in contact’ section.

I have zero knowledge about coding or web development. I’ve heard a lot of people recommending [wordpress](https://wordpress.com).org since it gives you more control over the website. Do I have to learn how to code? How time consuming is the maintenance? I know I have to make sure I have proper security, backups etc.

If I’m being completely honest, there are other things I’d rather be doing than learning how to build and maintain this website. However, if I really feel like this is worth it in the long run I’d be willing to put the time in.

Is [wordpress.org](https://wordpress.org) worth the extra effort, even for a simple, low traffic website? Or would someone like me be better off using something like Squarespace?
