Is WP’s personal($4/month) plan a good option for a student org?

[ad_1]

Just as the title says. I’m interested in building a simple website for my student run, online only organization that doesn’t need to be super complicated. I’m choosing to use the personal plan, as it’s the cheapest option, and I can pay for my custom domain after 1 year. Yes, the design limitations suck and I have to pay extra if I want premium themes or custom CSS access, but it only costs me $48 a year. When I have to pay for the domain next year, the total cost will be $60.

I’ve been looking into self/shared hosting options but it seems like the monthly hosting cost itself is $8/month minimum for any decent service, after promotional periods. This is basically $100/yr for my basic website which will not earn me any income. Are there some other cheaper options I’m missing, or is using WP.com’s personal plan the best option in my specific case? Thank you!
