Hey guys, I just got a client who is moving his domain from GoDaddy.com to namecheap.com.
At first, we were trying to transfer, but, since he created it only yesterday and the policy is that we’re unable to transfer unless the domain has been existent for at least 60 days, I decided to delete the domain and cancel all the existing subscriptions on Go Daddy, which I did. However, when I went on namecheap I couldn’t re-register the same domain because it still shows it’s taken. Any feedback is appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Deleting the domain won’t allow you to register it elsewhere. Ask GoDaddy to help you re-establish the domain and subscriptions and wait the 60 days.
That was the wrong thing to do. Domains don’t work like that. And to be honest, you need to learn this stuff if you are doing professional level website building. Knowing how to build websites without understanding domains is like being a firefighter without understanding how addresses work.
Contact [namecheap.com](http://namecheap.com) support and ask them to restore the domain. Pay whatever fee they want if they charge one (not all registrars do). If you do not do this, you are in for a wait while the domain works itself through the cancellation process. And indeed, you might never get it back if the domain is grabbed by domain squatters.
Once you have the domain back, point the nameservers to whatever host your client wants to use. Once the 60 day transfer lock period has passed, it can be transferred to a non-namecheap registrar if it is important to your client.
ooof that was a bad move, deleting the domain. Should have just waited the 60 days an d moved it after. Reach out to godaddy, since they were the registrar and see if they’ll undo it for you. Otherwise you’re sol for 60 days, or need to select a new domain altogether.
