I’ve migrated from a wordpress.com website to a self-hosted website with Bluehost years ago, and since then I had this issue :
With wordpress.com, I had subscribed to a Google Workspace plan (GSuite at the time) which gave me ONE email address.
I want to create new email addresses, with my domain, but here comes the issue…
1. Bluehost allows me to create new email addresses, but they can’t be activated if I don’t redirect emailing to Bluehost OR add new subscriptions to my Google Workspace.
2. Google Workspace won’t allow me to add new subscriptions – nor even support -, it says I have to contact my reseller (Automattic aka wordpress).
3. Once on WordPress, I can’t find any way to manage my Google Workspace subscription except cancelling it. And they won’t offer me any support since I have a free plan.
Here’s the automatic response from WordPress :
1. If you want to create new email addresses through Bluehost, you will need to either redirect email to Bluehost or add new subscriptions to your Google Workspace. Once you do this, you should be able to activate the new email addresses.
2. If you are having trouble adding new subscriptions to Google Workspace, you may want to contact Google Workspace support directly to see if they can help you resolve the issue. (???)
3. If you need to manage your Google Workspace subscription, you can do so through your WordPress.com account. However, since you have a free plan, it’s possible that you may not have access to all of the features or support that you need. You may want to consider upgrading your plan to access these features or reaching out to WordPress.com support for further assistance.
So the only option for me is basically to upgrade to a paid plan so I can have support from WordPress… really?
