Issues editing a transferred site.

[ad_1]

I am having an issue with editing a site that was previously created by a company and then transferred to myself.

When I go to edit any page, the entire design layout and content is displayed in what appears to be one long text box. I am under the impression that the site was previously created using backend coding in the WordPress editor and not any editing plugins. This company also has there own custom plugins that I assume are giving me the issues.

I am used to using plugins like Elementor, so with the way this site was created initially, is there any way I can edit it using plugins like Elementor, or will it have to continue to be edited by code.

I also wanted to know if this is a common issue when transferring sites to WordPress, and if so, would this process all be smoother if I simply switch to someone like Wix?

  1. Usually to make changes / edits, you will have to use whatever they used unless you rebuild the page / site.

You could put Elementor on the site but it could break stuff and you would have to build out the page in elementor. I would not recommend doing this.

It’s not really an issue unless you are only used to using page builders and can’t figure out the code.

When you say one long text box, do you mean the classic editor?

This concerns me. Do you have anyone who can assist with these plugins going forward? Are they updated regularly? If not, I would do everything I could to get rid of them.

1000% no. You may be having some troubles with the WordPress to slightly different WordPress migration. But you would have so so SO many more troubles trying to go from WordPress to a completely different website builder like Wix. In addition to being locked into Wix’s proprietary ecosystem.
