Just got hired to build a WordPress site for a client without even knowing how to use WordPress. Advice?

Before jumping into the long list of tutorials, I would love some advice as to how to plan out this website.

They currently have a custom built site from a few years ago, but are looking to move over to WordPress for easier editing/publishing content. It’s a non-profit company with \~500 site visitors per day.

The site will have a couple of pages and a few small features (embedded videos, embedded Facebook posts, and a page for donations). The current donation page is just a button that redirects to Paypal for payments.

What’s the best way to tackle something like this? I’ve been given a design already, and I’m looking at building it using Elementor. I’m very comfortable with HTML/CSS – not so much with Javascript. Design revisions will likely need to be made in the future though, which is why it would be convenient to use something like Elementor to build it.

Hosting is a whole other beast to tackle, but since hosting discussion isn’t allowed here, I’ll figure that out later.

Any help/advice is appreciated, thanks!
