I really like the layout of the site! But I would use Matomo Analytics (as plugin or hosted) instead of Google Analytics.
For SEO, and accessibility, I recommend adding real alt text to all your images. Looks like currently you’ve left them as the file names.
For example “playa-del-carmen-beach” has practically no SEO or accessibility benefit compared to “A photo of Playa Cel Carmen Beach in Mexico showing a statue of two mermaids with the ocean behind them”.
Overall pretty nice, clean.
Mobile First load is painfully slow. The TTFB, and load hangs about half way through on 4g until it finally loads the off screen content. Faster on wifi, but not great still. Long enough load to cause user drop off, and impact search engine ranking.
Subsequent load is still longer than desired, but almost livable.
The search icon in the nav is too close to the right side of the screen on mobile also. When trying to click it, took multiple attempts. Should center this within the boundary if keeping the borders around menu/nav area. Since it’s a full screen layover, you don’t need to account for input display width in the nav area.
