Hello,
So i'm a beginner freelance web developper, so far i've been developping websites using own custom theme (based off the underscores starter theme) and ACF and as little plugins as possible… However, most clients don't care about the whether it was built with a drag and drop editor or actual code so I'd like to give Generate Press or Kadence with their respective builder ( i will not use elementor.. never).
However reading the FAQ i came accross that sentence on both websites :
"You can use your license for client’s sites where you are building, developing, and managing a website for that client….
Please note that this does not include any kind of hosting or reselling. Managing a website for your client means you edit pages and posts on behalf of your client and for all intents and purposes you are the website admin. Setting up a website by only installing and activating Kadence for someone is not allowed as well as all other forms of sharing the license with any third party is not allowed"
What does that mean ? How am I supposed to use the theme without installing and activating it ?
I have to install and activate it at some point before i can build the website.
Also what about hosting ? For all my clients, I take care of hosting, domain name, installing wp, building the website, updates/maintenance, yearly hosting and domain renewal, etc.
I feel a little stupid right now, the answer might be super simple but i'd rather make sure i'm doing everything right.
I don't want to end up loosing my licence or any other troubles but I know my clients don't want to pay for $150+ each year for their theme.
So can I use my own license or is it necessary to buy one / clients ?
Thank you for reading
It means you can’t offer theme/plugin installation alone as a service, or sell licences.
“Setting up a website by only installing and activating Kadence for someone is not allowed as well as all other forms of sharing the license with any third party is not allowed”
Build away, you’ll be fine.
