Leaving WordPress development and changing the tech stack

[ad_1]

Hi all. I’ve been wordpressing for the last 12 years. During that period, I was working with agencies, corporations, freelancing… I developed and maintained everything – from small, local charity websites to large corporate sites with millions of visits.

During 12 years, I learned a lot. Twelve years ago, I didn’t know the difference between id and class. 12 years later, I can develop a site that will pass Google Web Essentials without any issues. 12 years later, I have 10 themes behind me. Thanks to WordPress and hard work, I have my apartment and new car and live comfortably. It’s worth mentioning that I made a bunch of friends and met many people thanks to WordPress.

However, I got tired. I got tired of everything. First, I survived [wp.com]) decision and “error in calculations”, so they still owe me around 40.000USD from theme sales. I survived the theme author market close on [wp.com]). But I got tired of the same job, the same tasks… I got tired of all the drama around WordPress and disturbances.

I’m considering getting a break – maybe a month or two, and changing the tech stack. I would really appreciate advice from anyone who completely changed the tech stack in their life, regardless of the reason. I understand that changing tech stack will require learning everything from scratch, basically, I will become 40 years 40-year-old junior(lol).

Any thoughts, ideas, or suggestions, what next after WordPress?
