Link sends user to different website

[ad_1]

Hey all,

So, someone I built a website for has shared the link to it many times in Instagram stories and posts and all. Which is good. Now, one user clicked that link and ended up on a completely different website. It only happens to that one particular user. On all my devices (and in incognito) it all works just fine.

Weird thing is, for that one user it links to a "Your domain and hosting are now active"-page… of a completely different hosting company?! The sites is hosted on Hosting A, but for that user it links to a page of Hosting B.. How the hell did that happen?

I am completely sure the site is okay for everyone else haha.

Is it that user's problem? Does anyone ever experienced something like this?

Thanks in advance for any info I can check. Can't share the link of the site here regarding privacy. Just curious to see if this has happened to anyone before.

Cheers!

  1. Was the site launched or moved hosting recently? Sounds like a dns propagation issue. Whatever the issue, it’s unrelated to WordPress, it’s a hosting config issue.

  2. If you use Apache look at the Htacess file to see if there is any funny business going on.
Also look at the wp-config file to see if there is any other funny business, other places to check out at the themes functions.php or header.php and also look in the MYSQL database in the wp_options table.
